In a 31 July 2026 IMF commentary, Kristalina Georgieva argued that Argentina's stabilization needed to translate into jobs, wages and broader opportunities.
In the post the Fund describes two consecutive years of primary fiscal surplus, inflation around 30%, rebuilding of reserves, and more than US$45 billion in investment projects approved under the large-investment framework. It identifies Vaca Muerta, mining, agricultural exports and knowledge-based services as opportunities, says that stabilization must translate into jobs, wages and broader opportunities, and voices support for stronger central-bank independence and fiscal institutions.
These figures describe the Fund's July assessment. Approved investment projects are distinct from money already spent or projects completed; the commentary should not be read as a current September economic dashboard.
